Malta, NY – Matt Tanner came into Round number eight of the SuperGen Products with Champion Power Equipment CRSA Sprint Car Series event at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway as a fill-in driver for the Mike VanDusen racing team. Tanner happily answered the call when the team’s regular driver Billy VanInwegen could not attend the event and he did so in winning fashion as the Stephentown driver parked the number 56 in victory lane.

The win was the first of the season for the former series champion and the first of the season for the ProFab Engineering/VanDusen team.

Thomas Radivoy and Connecticut’s Peter Dance led the stars and cars of the CRSA Sprint Car Series to the green with Radivoy, Dance and fourth place starter Tanner going three wide for the race lead through turns one and two. Tanner and Radivoy battled through turns three and four with Tanner leading the opening lap.

Current points leader and defending series champion Jeff Trombley would use his home-track knowledge to take over second early in the event and pressure Tanner. Tanner and Trombley would run one-two for most of the race with Trombley nosing out ahead at one point.

In the end no one had anything for Tanner who would pick up the 25 lap A-Main win a half second over Trombley, a hard charging Justin Mills, Darryl Ruggles and Tyler Cartier. Heat races were won by a trio of former Dirt Modified pilots – Dana Wagner, Trombley and Ruggles.

The Powder Tech Powder Coatings Hard Charger Award went to Mills while the Magsarus Ignitions Electrifying Move of the Race Award went to Tanner.

Trombley came into the nights activities as the overall series points leader and Kennedy’s of Troy I-90 Challenge Mini-Series points leader. His second-place finish keeps him on top in both standings. Second place in both standings was Thomas Radivoy. Radivoy had nose wing troubles and finished eleventh.

The SuperGen Products with Champion Power Equipment CRSA Sprint Car Series returns to action Saturday night, July 21st at the Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, New York. In addition to the regular 20 lap A-Main event, the rain postponed $1,000 to win A-Main from June 23rd will be held. Also, the Maguire Family of Dealerships Dash for Cash will be run.
