They say, "If at first you don’t succeed, try again."
That’s what the A-Verdi Storage Containers CRSA Sprints will do to open up the 2026 season as they invade Outlaw Speedway Friday night.
With Thunder Mountain having rained out late April, this means Outlaw Speedway will open the season for a second year in a row and will also open the third edition of the Dandy Miniseries.
This is the first of three trips for the series to the 4/10 mile track in Dundee. The series will host some high-paying shows later this season, including a $2011-to-win show in a doubleheader alongside the Empire Super Sprints July 31 and a $4000-to-win two-day show with the Hoag Memorial Oct. 16-17. Last season, Jeff Trombley, Dandy Miniseries champion Jordan Hutton and Dillon Paddock found their way to victory lane.
In addition, the series will be a part of the undercard to the ULMS Super Late Models’ $10,000-to-win event.
Here’s a look at the news and notes for this weekend.
A Look Back at 2025: Last year, Zach Sobotka and Dillon Paddock dominated with 11 combined wins in 21 features, including four 1-2 finishes. Paddock had six wins to Sobotka's five, but Sobotka earned the CRSA championship—the first rookie to do so in 14 years.
Sobotka, Paddock, Jordan Hutton, and Bobby Parrow each claimed miniseries championships.
In 2025, five drivers—Zach Sobotka, Scott Landers, Spencer Burley, Johnny and Mikey Smith—scored their first CRSA wins.
With two 2025 wins, Jeff Trombley now tops the all-time CRSA list with 16 victories.
Car counts rose in 2025, averaging about 31 per show, with a record 48 cars at Weedsport in May.
Meet the Contenders: Sobotka and Paddock are expected to contend for wins and for the 2026 championship again. Who else are the threats in 2026?
Dalton Herrick, a CRSA stalwart, plans a full 2026 tour after a challenging 2025 season where he went winless for the first time since 2020 and finished sixth in points. He is aiming for his 11th series win.
Timmy Lotz, after his first full CRSA season, finishing fifth in points and with a career-best second at Ransomville, expects to return and contend for a victory in 2026.
Jordan Hutton returns in 2026 with a new paint scheme after winning the Dandy Miniseries and scoring an Outlaw Speedway victory last summer. His 305 experience makes him a consistent contender for more wins.
Scott Landers, fresh off his first career victory in a Twin 20 at Woodhull Raceway, finished fourth in points with three top fives and 10 top 10s. He and his son, Josh, plan to compete again in 2026.
Other potential frequent competitors in 2026 include Bailey Boyd, Dustin Sehn, Ethan Gray, Jerry Sehn Jr., Kirsten Dombroski, Matt Rotz, Paul Colagiovanni Sr., Steve Glover and more.
Can he do it again? Jordan Hutton has won numerous A-Mains at Outlaw Speedway with CRSA, most recently last August. But recently, Hutton scored the biggest win of his Sprint Car career at “The Baddest Dirt Track on the Planet.”
April 24, Hutton scored his first 360 win with the Empire Super Sprints at Outlaw in their season opener. Hutton, starting second in the feature, fell back early, but by lap 10 took the lead and even survived a late-race restart for his first-ever 360 win.
Hutton's recent victory and stated plans to compete this weekend at Outlaw Speedway position him as an early favorite, given his top finishes—first and second—at Outlaw last season.
By The Numbers: At Outlaw, the track joined the 40 club in car count last October when they hit 42 in the Hoag Memorial. This will be the 11th time the series has been pushed off here. Eight different winners have won a race at Dundee, with only two repeat winners. Darryl Ruggles in 2014 and 2016 and Jordan Hutton in 2022 and 2026.
From the Frontman: "It has been a difficult start to the season due to weather conditions. However, we anticipate returning to one of our most supportive tracks with strong car counts. According to Tyler Siri, the facility is in great shape and ready to go! Sprint car fans and people seeking entertainment after Watkins Glen races are encouraged to join us and experience the action."
Up Next: CRSA takes next week off and returns May 24 at Weedsport Speedway to begin the I-90 Pit Stop Challenge. Action Sunday night can be seen live on DIRTVision.
